Located approximately 30 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Granbury is tucked in around Lake Granbury. Created in 1969 by damming the Brazos River, Granbury offers the unique perspective of both historic and modern day attractions.
Steeped in the frontier folklore of Texas, Granbury and Hood County are doorways to the old days with their Victorian architecture and quaint country spirit. Celebrating their diverse culture, you’ll find historic preservation a priority in this proud community.
The model for the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Program, the Granbury Courthouse Square became the first building in Texas to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The courthouse has been described as one of the most complete examples of the late nineteenth century courthouse square in Texas.
Named by Texas Highways magazine as “The Best Town Square in Texas” in 1998, Granbury continues its proud history as both a modern example of Texas living as well as being a fine example of the preservation of the history of the state.
